Sawdust Pie: A Delightful Southern Treat

Ingredients

Pie Filling:

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust

  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs

  • 1 cup chopped pecans

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 3 large eggs, beaten

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Crumble Topping:

  • 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs

  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Prepare your 9-inch pie dish with the unbaked pie crust.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs, chopped pecans, granulated sugar, and all-purpose flour until well mixed.

  3. Pour the beaten eggs and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients. Stir thoroughly until the batter is evenly combined.

  4. Carefully pour the filling mixture into the unbaked pie crust, smoothing the top with a spatula to create an even layer.

  5. In a smaller bowl, blend the remaining 1/2 cup of graham cracker crumbs and the packed light brown sugar to create the crumble topping.

  6. Sprinkle the crumble topping generously and evenly over the top of the wet pie filling.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes. The pie is done when the filling is completely set and the edges of the crust are golden brown.

  8. Allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Serve at room temperature.
